History in the making. How does a small Durbanville property running a flock of 50 sheep, 2 cows and a sheepdog consequently become one of South Africa’s most successful small wine cellars? This type of fairy tale only gets written when a few very special ingredients get blended with a number of happy coincidences. So, what was our Nitida recipe and how did we become part of the Durbanville Wine Valley? Nitida is a family-owned, boutique winery, and our tasting room reflects that it is all about the wine for us! Our tasting room is situated inside our barrel maturation cellar – and some weekdays you might even get a glimpse of the winemaker making some liquid magic. They dug further into the hill, to create the tasting room space; therefore guests are able to see a soil profile of the farm, which also helps to keep things cool in summer. It is the perfect combination of natural beauty and rustic charm. Sitting amongst the barrels helps us to give our guests an intimate and authentic tasting experience. Unfortunately, this does limit our seating capacity, and we cannot accommodate groups, especially on weekends. We do suggest booking your tasting on weekends, to avoid disappointment.
