Franschhoek Wine Valley in 2024: Sparkling Festivals and Sustainable Vintages

Franschhoek, one of South Africa’s most renowned wine regions, is currently buzzing with exciting wine-related events and developments.

The Cap Classique & Champagne Festival is set to be a major highlight this year. Scheduled for November 30th to December 1st, 2024, this sparkling wine event will feature over 20 local producers, offering an exquisite selection of Cap Classique wines. Set against the backdrop of the historic Huguenot Monument, it promises a weekend of lively music, delicious food, and bubbly.

October also brings perfect conditions for exploring Franschhoek Wine Valley, home to some of the country’s finest wines and culinary experiences. Wineries such as Backsberg, known for being South Africa’s first carbon-neutral winery, have reopened their tasting facilities with refreshed portfolios. Backsberg continues to impress with sustainable practices, while Black Elephant Vintners offers an unconventional, rebellious approach to wine.

Additionally, Holden Manz Wine Estate stands out for its resilience in the face of load shedding, ensuring visitors a smooth experience. The estate offers a variety of notable wines, including the popular Holden Manz Chardonnay 2020, alongside light meals and guided tastings.

With these events and the beautiful spring weather, Franschhoek is an ideal destination for wine lovers looking to indulge in the region’s best offerings.
